I was recently interviewed on a radio program called BackStory, which (to use their own words): "brings historical perspective to the events happening around us today. On each show, renowned U.S. historians Ed Ayers, Peter Onuf, and Brian Balogh tear a topic from the headlines and plumb its historical depths."

In honor of Valentine's Day, they have put together a great segment about the history of courtship in America, and spoke to me about my ads! It's now online, and will be broadcast around the country on local NPR stations, so it might even being airing on a radio station near you! So I invite you all to go check it out. I'm the first person interviewed, but the rest of the program is also very interesting and worth taking the time to listen to:

Love Me Did: A History of Courtship

Anyone interested in seeing the actual ads quoted in the interview can find them here, here, here, and here.

I am a NPR fan and listen out for Back Story every week. I just loved your interview, which led me to your blog. I have had the best time reading all the adds, I wonder how much do you think some of these adds cost? So many mysteries, what a great way to look into the past.

Thanks Jan - I'm glad you are enjoying the blog! I'm not sure how much the ads cost - it seems you paid when you submitted them. One of those unsolved mysteries!
