Best ever

I debated not posting an entry today given the sad, sad news of Michael Jackson's death; I was never a huge fan, but then man was a cultural icon, and an integral part of my childhood. RIP, Michael. But, I said I'd post and so I will. This one, I hope, will give you a little chuckle:

HA HA HA HA!!! I love this ad. It should be legible but just in case the text reads: "Will Lizzie, or Clara, or Julia, or any other handsome and aggreeable [sic] young lady that was seen on Broadway any day last week, and is matrimonially inclined, send her address, enclosing photograph, to Romeo, box 144, Herald office?"

Hee! It's cheeky, it's funny, it's clever; who did this?? I can't believe the newspaper put in the ad itself, although possibly. But that means some person, or people, who thought the missed connection ads are as hilarious as I do, just for the fun of it, paid to print this ad and get a good laugh at all the men and women who use these things. And I'm sure the paper's readers got a big smile out of it too.

People. You have to love them. "Romeo," whoever you were, I wish you were around now, because I bet today you'd be one helluva comic.

In any case, here is the next installment of the Sadda and Lalla Rang series. Just a few more to go before I need your help decifering their meaning! This one reads: "A. - Bib - What has become of the beauties, Sadda Rang and Lalla Rang? Have they moved? Dod."

One last thing! I started this blog at the beginning of May, but my official "launch" was one month ago today. In that time, it's been about ten times more successful than I ever dreamed, with nearly 10,000 (yes, I said 10,000) unique visitors. Sure, my numbers will rise and fall and I'm not expecting to become a celebrity overnight. But thanks to everyone here for putting me out there, for sticking around, and for your words of encouragement! It's been a great ride so far!

You know what would be awesome? If the Sadda and Lalla message came from a third party who'd been watching these ads and was wondering why he hadn't seen any in a while.

I bet the Sadda & Lalla messages are code. For business espionage, or something similar. Spies!!!

@Ms Avery - It would be awesome - but I don't think that's what it is. But honestly, you never know!

@Ray-Ray - I agree that it's got to be code...but for what??
